October is already looking to be one bang-up month for gaming, what with a number of triple-A titles like Dead Space and Fallout 3 finally getting release. And now you can add Far Cry 2 to their ranks, as Ubisoft has confirmed their upcoming shooter will now be released on October 23rd. This is way earlier than expected, seeing as most early reports indicated a November or December release. In addition to that welcome bit of news, Ubisoft also revealed details of the Collector’s Edition for the game. We’ve seen quite a bit from Epic about Gears of War 2’s new weapons, levels, story, and such, but we haven’t seen all that much in the way of really different enemies. Now that’s changed with this new batch of screenshots that show off a few of the new baddies that you’ll be chainsawing your way through in November. They include the guy above with a wicked-looking mace, some bulldog-like creatures, and one guy sporting a flamethrower and a bucket for a head. Right now though, I just hope I’ve finished with Fallout 3 by the time this game hits release.

This new trailer shows off one wayward Rabbid in some sort of reality show confessional booth, where he jabbers on in his weird language. And then he pulls a cookie out from under him with much straining and a loud “pop.” Then he screams…presumably at the prospect of finding a tasty cookie in his butt. Personally, I’d be a little wary about cookies that came from inside myself too, no matter how delicious-looking.

The latest Champions Online Meet the Team article introduces Cryptic’s Carlos Montero. As the lead environment artist for Champions Online, Montero gets to let his imagination run wild as he inspires the design of the environments for the upcoming MMO.

Black Rock Studio’s Ian Hudson took time out for a Q&A with Gaming Nexus on the upcoming off-road racing title, PURE. As the Lead Environment Designer on the PURE team, Hudson poured a lot of energy into creating tracks with hightfield technology without sacrificing visuals.

It appears Destructoid’s announcement that Dead Space has been banned in Germany was premature. According to Videogaming247, Eurogamer.de has got word straight fro EA Germany that Dead Space is still in the USK. There is some question as to whether it will be released intact or will have restrictions applied.
