V. FAQ's
Q. Will my gamepad work with Jericho?
A. If you own an Xbox 360 Controller for Windows then yes, it will work perfectly with Jericho. If your gamepad is certified to work with Games for Windows and Windows Vista, then provided it has the correct number of buttons and thumbsticks, again it will work fine. If your gamepad is a model other than this then it will not be detected by Jericho.
Q. Where are my saved games and settings stored?
A. Jericho saved games and settings are user-specific. On Windows Vista, saves can be found in the "C:\Users\\Documents\Codemasters\Clive Barker's Jericho\" folder, and settings in the "C:\Users\\AppData\Codemasters\Clive Barker's Jericho\" folder. On Windows XP saves can be found in the "C:\Documents and Settings\\My Documents\Codemasters\Clive Barker's Jericho\" folder and settings in the "C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Codemasters\Clive Barker's Jericho\" folder. Note: saved games are not deleted when the game is uninstalled but they can easily be removed manually by deleting the Jericho folders named above.
Q. How does the 'Aspect Ratio' work?
A. When changing the video settings, you will notice an Aspect Ratio option. To ensure that the image on screen does not appear stretched, this setting should be set to match the physical width-to-height ratio of your monitor. For optimum performance, make sure the resolution you choose (e.g. "1024 x 768 (4:3)") matches this ratio.
VI. Performance & Troubleshooting
If you are playing on a machine close to the minimum required specification, you may need to turn down the graphical settings in order to play the game smoothly. If you do experience poor frame-rates, from Jericho's main menu navigate to the Configuration > Video menu. Set the resolution to '800x600' or similar. Shadows are the biggest performance hit, so in Advanced Options, turn these to Low or Off. Shader and Texture Detail can also be reduced to Low, but this will considerably lower the visual quality of the game. See the Required Specification section for details of the minimum hardware required to play Jericho.
The performance of the game will improve if you have more RAM, and a faster processor and graphics card, but regardless of your machine specs, you can increase the overall performance of the game by doing the following:
Shut down all non-essential Windows programs, especially online chat programs, virus checkers and screen layout utilities.
Ensure that your hard drive is regularly defragmented.
Free up hard drive space by removing old games and applications.
Do not play the game in a resolution that is too high; for low-end systems don't go higher than 800x600.
Turn off or lower the graphical options in the game's Configuration menu.
If you are having problems starting the game up, you should try the following:
Ensure that all the drivers for your hardware are up-to-date; drivers can usually be obtained from the manufacturer's website. Most problems are caused by out-of-date drivers for graphics cards. See the Useful Websites section for links to drivers for your ATI or NVIDIA graphics card.
Run the game in 'safe mode'. On Vista, this is found by right clicking the icon in the Games Explorer; on XP a link can be found in the start menu. This will start the game using basic settings, which you can then change in the Configuration menu.
Sometimes, playing a game with graphical settings turned up too high can cause problems. If you are experiencing problems in-game, try turning graphical options down or off in the game's Video Configuration menu and see if this helps.
Finally, check the official Jericho Forum here and see if others are experiencing the same problem. If all else fails, Technical Support information can be found at the back of the game's manual.
