hlds_ld is a Linux Half-Life server management tool, consisting of a daemon process and GUI clients.
Windows 9x/NT Installation instructions for hlds_ld GUI Clients, release 1.07.
PLEASE FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS EXPLICITLY, OR THINGS PROBABLY
WON'T WORK!
1. Unzip this archive into a temporary directory.
2. Run the "win76p2.exe" file.
This will install basic Tcl/Tk on your Windows system.
*** EXTREMELY IMPORTANT ***
When it asks you for a directory to install under, DO NOT
specify a directory with any spaces in it!
e.g. if you install this thing anywhere under "Program Files"
it WILL NOT WORK!
I used "C:Tcl", and I advise you do the same.
3. Unzip the "tclXwin7.6.0.zip" file into the same directory you
installed Tcl into.
e.g. "C:Tcl".
Make sure you use the "Use Folder Names" option when unzipping
this, or things won't work.
4. Copy the "hlgui" and "hlds_ld_client.cfg" files into your "C:Tcl"
directory.
5. Copy the "hlclustermon" and "hlds_ld_cluster.cfg" files into your "C:Tcl"
directory.
6. Copy the "Shortcut to hlgui" file onto your desktop or start menu,
or wherever you feel comfortable running this from.
If you installed in a directory other than "C:Tcl", you will
need to change the Properties of the shortcut to point to
the proper location.
7. If you want to monitor/admin multiple servers, you can pass arguments
to the GUI when it starts.
See the properties of the "Shortcut example" file for an example
of the arguments. They are the port and address of the server
you want to connect to.
8. Enjoy. Read the "Help" menu on the GUI for information on the options
you have available to you.
