The quest to destroy the One Ring continues in the first Real-Time Strategy game based on The Lord of the Rings saga. Massive battles erupt as the forces of light and darkness battle for control of Middle-earth. The demo includes two single-player mission
The demo includes two single-player missions from the game - "The Siege of the Iron Hills" and the "Pursuit of Gollum." In both missions, players take the side of the forces of light in their attempt to destroy the One Ring.
In War of the Ring, massive battles erupt as the peoples of Middle-earth fight for control of Tolkien's World. Gamers can play as the forces of good and valiantly fight for the One Ring's destruction or assume command of the forces of evil to claim control over Middle-earth forever.
War of the Ring delves deeper into the stories of the heroes in The Lord of the Rings, allowing the player to see the events that led to the founding of The Fellowship, and participating in some of the battles taking place during the Ring quest.
In contrast, the storyline for the forces of darkness follows the story of Sauron after his escape from Dol Guldur during the reformation of his armies in Mordor. This story allows the player to play the forces of darkness for the first time, leading armies of Orcs, Trolls, and Haradrim, as the power of Sauron grows across the face of Middle-earth.
In addition to its epic single-player component, War of the Ring also includes robust multiplayer gameplay over local area network or the Internet.
The Lord of the Ring: War of the Ring is set to be released worldwide this November.
