Opposing Force singleplayer
Ground Zero 2 -- Fallout
Full Edition
===The Story================================================================
In Ground Zero 1...
You are Gordan Freeman. On your quest to the Lambda Lab, you
find another one of the Black Mesa's nuclear weapon storage facilities.
This one is different though, a rogue group of military has stormed the
building, and plans to detonate the weapon to rid the Alien invasion. You,
becoming aware of this, must deactivate the nuclear device to save the
innocent Scientists, and to prevent the destruction of the Black Mesa's vast
amounts of data, research and information.
Now... the Fallout begins...
"Freeman escaped. The nuclear weapon was disabled, within
seconds of its destruction, and wouldn't be able to be launched again until
a new generator is placed and wired. Gordon suceeded, and is on route to the
Lambda Complex. Why? Were not sure. More troops will be inserted in the area
in moments. Our squad has been decimated, and only me, you, and a few others
still survived after Gordons battle with us. Our squad, and Freeman both
know this -- Our squads mission was to destroy the base. We are
traitors to our people, our country, our government and military for
disobeying orders and trying to destroy the Black Mesa facility."
"We will be killed by the new troops coming in if they find out what
happened here. Me and you both know what to do now, kill the only witness
of our rogue intentions -- Gordon Freeman." the Lieutenant said. "But...
how? We have no idea where he is.." sighed Allen Morris, "Damnit Morris,
there is no time for questions, we kill him, or they kill us. He was here
about 30 minutes ago, load up, we are going to kill Gordon Freeman."
===Quick Notes==============================================================
-gzero2.exe-
If for some reason, the gzero2.exe launcher does not work, run gzero2.bat
in your half-life directory. Its the same as gzero2.exe but in an ugly
dos based format.
-brightness-
Ground zero 2 may appear darker than most half-life maps, because of the
machine it was developed on. Simply adjust your half-life brightness
settings higher, or adjust your monitor if you find GZ2 to dark.
-full edition / light edition-
This is the Full Edition, with all the graphic effects added including Rain,
Fog, Light beams and more. 3D Acceleration is strongly recommended.
If Ground Zero 2 is running too slowly, download the Light Edition. That
version has extra effects removed to boost speed. Recommended for non
3D card users.
===Installation=============================================================
Before you install, you need to have Opposing Force and Half-Life installed
on your machine.
UNZIP GZERO2.ZIP TO YOUR HALF-LIFE DIRECTORY. It will install the files
to where they need to go. If you need to extract the files manually for
some reason, here is where each file goes:
HALF-LIFE
|
+ gzero2.exe
+ gzero2.bat
|
|
+------ GEARBOX
| |
| + gzero2.txt
| + gzero2.wad
| + gzero2.dat
|
|
+------ TFC
|
+------ VALVE
Once all those files are in their respective directories, launch GZERO2.EXE
or GZERO2.BAT. And choose the following...
-Choose 'Enable Ground Zero 2' to have Ground Zero 2, installed over OpFor.
-Choose 'Disable Ground Zero 2' to have OpFor restored to normal.
-Choose 'Launch OpFor' to play OpFor (or Ground Zero 2, if it is enabled)
-Choose 'Read Documentation' to get here.
Once Ground Zero 2 is enabled, you do not need to enter GZERO2.EXE
(or GZERO2.BAT). You can simply run OpFor the way you would normally, and it
will boot up OpFor with Ground Zero 2 enabled. Also, if you disable Ground
Zero 2, you do not need to enter GZERO2.exe (or GZER02.BAT) again. OpFor
will be restored permenantly until you enable Ground Zero 2 again.
Once you have launched OpFor with Ground Zero 2 enabled, just start a game
like you normally would. Go 'New Game', then select your difficulty level,
and it will load up. When you have launched OpFor with GZ2 enabled, you
should clearly see the words 'Ground Zero 2 enabled' on the menu screen.
===Uninstallation===========================================================
To get rid of Ground Zero 2 off your hard drive. Launch GZERO2.EXE
(or GZERO2.BAT), disable Ground Zero 2. If you disable Ground Zero 2, and no
error messages pop up, it is safe to delete the following files:
HALF-LIFE
|
+ gzero2.exe
+ gzero2.bat
|
|
+------ GEARBOX
| |
| + gzero2.txt
| + gzero2.wad
| + gzero2.dat
|
|
+------ TFC

Known bugs : +The 4th level is a bit more unstable
compared to the rest, and sometimes crashes
for an unknown reason. Just incase,
quick save more often. Message is
"Out of sfx_t"
+Again, on the 4th level, sometimes the
security guard gets stuck when he is near
the retinal scanner. If he gets stuck,
reload from the last save point. So again,
quick save more in level 4.
+On the second level in the 'rain room'
the barrel near the ramp seems to be stuck.
Push it from the ramp side to away from the
ramp and it should come free.
Notes : +Do not use cheats, you may miss some
triggers. If you must cheat, play
like you aren't, and DO NOT use 'noclip'!
If your stuck, go to the online walk
through at my website.
+When your with your military buddies,
stay close and don't run to far away from
them unless you have to. Sometimes your
buddies spot something you don't notice
and tell you. If your in hearing distance
that is.
+The military AI is stupid, sometimes
they wont follow you around corners, try
to keep a line of sight between you and them
to get them to follow you, or if they are
not going around the corner, tell them
to guard, and push them (go up to them
press and hold forward, then walk back,
they should move) around the corner.
+If the military wont follow, and you
try "pushing" them and it doesn't work,
they are stuck. Chances are you won't need
him past that point.
===Errors, and their fixes==================================================
---Errors that occur in GZERO2.EXE-----
"Files are missing! Consult the readme!"
This means, it was missing a file when enabling/disabling Ground Zero 2.
If you were enabling Ground Zero 2 and it gave you this message, you are
missing GZERO.DAT which is the main file to the addon pack. If you
unzipped Ground Zero 2, properly, it should be there in your gearbox
directory. Check. If it is not in your gearbox directory, place it there
(refer to directory file tree above). If you were disabling Ground Zero 2,
it was trying to find a file and delete it, but if it cant find the file,
its not there anyway, so Ground Zero 2 should be disabled anyway. So
this error doesn't matter at all when disabling.
"Can't find HL.EXE! GZERO2.EXE is not in your Half-Life directory"
This means what it says, and the solution is to place the files where
they belong, and GZERO2.EXE must be in your Half-Life directory!
---Errors that occur in GZERO2.BAT-----
I select 'Read Documentation', an editor comes up, but its empty.
Gzero2.txt is not in your gearbox directory, Gzero2.bat is not in
your Half-Life directory, or files are missing. Use the directory tree
above to find out where everything goes.
"Bad command or file name"
This means, it cant find Gzero2's files, or most likely, Gzero2.bat
is not in your Half-Life directory. Use the directory tree above
to find out where everything goes.
---Errors that occur in Half-Life------
"Can't find gearbox/gzero2.wad" (or similar message)
This happens when you start a game of GZ2 and results in termination of
Half-Life I believe. Its trying to find half-life/gearbox/gzero2.wad
and can't. This means this file wasn't unzipped to its proper location
in the installation. Manually place gzero2.wad in its proper directory
(refer to directory file tree above)
